October 17, 2015 – the tournament was another success! The weather was perfect, we had the course completely to ourselves. But most of all, we raised over $15,000 to again be donated to Service Dogs for Independence, run by Elizabeth Morris.
Two recipients attended our dinner following the tournament, Mary Pat and her family who has Anne, a Doodle, and Arial and her mom, who has Dan, another Doodle. You could have heard a pin drop during their time on stage. The other two recipients were unable to attend.
Quick update: Abbey the poodle is doing very well with her owner Cecile, who is in her 60’s and has had seizures since a childhood brain injury. Up to 10 seizures a day is normal, but since she has gotten Abbey, her seizures are now maybe 3 times a week. It has been lifesaving to her.
Anne and Mary Pat are adjusting well and working as a team.
Dan and Arial are in Kanas for the seizure testing and Dan has been by her side helping the doctors by alerting for Arial !
The fourth dog, Tobey, is expected to go to his new owner in July.
All in all, a great day, with great success. We are thankful for our family, friends, new friends and people we don’t know for their generosity, kindness and assistance…without all of you, Team Lauren would be unable to help others!
